Associate Professor, Industrial Design

HyunJoo Oh is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the School of Industrial Design and the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech. Her research focuses on the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and design, specifically studying and building creative technologies that integrate everyday craft materials with computing.

She is the PI of an NSF-funded project (#2030880) that focuses on developing a toolkit of craft-friendly conductive and non-conductive materials for use with middle school students and teachers. Her team explores how this hands-on approach can demystify computing by offering a flexible palette of materials, fostering creativity, inclusivity, and deeper engagement in computing. She is also a Co-PI on another NSF grant (#2345860) that supports the sustainable development of smart medical devices.
