Dr. Lorissa MacAllister, PhD, is the Founder and President of Enviah, a strategic consulting firm dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes by translating research into practice. With more than 20 years of experience, she is a pioneer in connecting evidence-based design with operational performance to create environments that enhance patient care, staff experience, and organizational efficiency.

Her work integrates data, behavioral research, and systems thinking to bridge design, clinical operations, and strategy—bringing science off the page and into real-world healthcare environments.

Dr. MacAllister is also the author of the forthcoming book Designing Healthcare Facilities for All Persons: Lessons from Rehabilitation (Wiley, 2025). This work explores how inclusive, evidence-based healthcare environments can improve patient outcomes, equity, and well-being. Drawing on lessons from rehabilitation settings, it offers strategies to eliminate barriers, design for diverse needs, and leverage space as a strategic tool to create healing, adaptable, and patient-centered care environments.
