Maureen is the Lead Occupational Therapist for the Cognitive Empowerment Program at Emory University’s Brain Health Center, where she created the core curriculum and conducts therapeutic sessions with clients suffering from mild cognitive impairment. She collaborates with professionals from various fields to integrate her medical training and clinical expertise with other sciences within the GT College of Design.   

Maureen received her terminal degree in Occupational Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina and has worked extensively with neurologically impaired clients throughout her career. She has conducted research on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and has been involved in various Occupational Therapy capacities including serving on the Louisiana Professional Medical Licensing Board and Co-Chair of the State Occupational Therapy Public Relations Committee. 

Maureen has shifted her focus towards studying the neurologic deficits of aging and age-related diseases with her work centering around the issues that threaten the physical and cognitive independence of this population. She is an Aging in Place Specialist through the NAHB and has coined her current clinical and academic pursuits as “Aging in Place with Grace”
